Jimmie Hale Mission

GFBC has a long-running relationship with this homeless shelter in downtown Birmingham. On the fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m., GFBC men assist in food distribution and help lead the worship service.

North Jefferson Women's Center

Located in Fultondale, the North Jefferson's Women's Center is a non-profit organization that promotes the sanctity of life. Through counseling and personal relationship building, this center strives to promote life as God intends. We will support this ministry in the coming year financially and by sending volunteers to be trained as counselors and others to help make repairs needed to the facility.

Construction Teams

GFBC construction teams will be participating in local construction work as opportunities arise.

disaster relief

A natural disaster can happen at any time in our community. When this happens, GFBC calls on volunteers to meet at a designated place and then assigns them to areas with the greatest need. At the end of each day, progress is evaluated to determine where they are assigned next.

Widow and Elderly "Home Improvement"

True ministry is to help widows and orphans. We have a great opportunity to be a help in various ways to our community. Handicap ramps, light construction, painting, sprucing up a lawn or cleaning a home is a great blessing to those who are in need. Volunteer teams assess needs and coordinate a time to meet with team members to accomplish the task.

Community Appreciation Days

These are specific days we choose to celebrate and appreciate various groups of people. Whether it is the military, educators, firemen, policemen or others, we always enjoy honoring those who are serving our communities and our country. Community Appreciation Days take place on a Sunday. Volunteer teams help by creating and inviting the groups, as well as, by preparing a special reception after the ceremony.

Cornerstone Ranch

Cornerstone Ranch is a miracle in the making. This is a 1200 acre camp for children who need to get away from the city and enjoy camping, fishing, canoeing, archery, hiking, zip lining and marshmallow toasting, while learning who created all this nature in the first place! Volunteer teams are needed for camp mentors, cleaning, yard work and maintenance. Last year there were over twenty boys who gave their life to Christ. Come be part of a ministry that is impacting children for an eternity. For more info visit www.mycornerstoneranch.org.

Gas Buy Down Days

Do you remember the good old days when the gas stations would pump gas for you? Volunteer teams pump gas, clean windshields and hand out the Word to pleasantly surprised patrons of their local gas station. It’s a fun way to surprise people with a little old fashioned service while sharing the most important piece of information, that God loves them!

Bottled Water Give Away

Easy, fun and inexpensive. Everyone gets thirsty and some are thirsting for something they can’t quite figure out! We have cold water for the physical thirst and Living Water for the spiritual thirst! Volunteer teams meet at parks or other high traffic areas to offer a free refreshing drink. Each bottle has a care card explaining to the thirsty recipient how to satisfy their most important need…to drink from the Living Water!

Christmas Blessing Tree

Every year we are able to bless children in our communities with much needed gifts and clothing to help parents in difficult circumstances provide Christmas for their children. Volunteers help by taking a name off the tree and providing gifts requested by the parents. GFBC provides Bibles and other information for the children and parents.

School Breakroom Extreme Makeover

Have you ever seen a teacher’s lounge that looked a little more like a prison cell than a place for them to get away for a few minutes and recharge their batteries? Because teachers are so important to the vitality of our communities, we want to let them know how much we care. Volunteers come and “demo” the existing room and help recreate an Oasis for the teachers to enjoy. Cleaning, painting and designing are unique ways to bring encouragement and blessings into a public school.

100 Oaks

This is an awesome ministry for missions right here in our backyard! We have a ministry center in Fultondale that teaches the gospel to many Hispanic boys and girls. "No, you don't need to know Spanish!" All you have to do is have a burden to see these precious children come to know Christ!  Come help us teach, love and lead this Spanish community to Christ!

Meeting Times: Weekdays 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.
We sing, teach and demonstrate the Bible from Genesis to Revelation for 1st through 5th grade. This is a unique opportunity to "go" to a local school and help children understand the teachings of the Old and New Testaments. Matthew 28:19 "Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit."

Gardendale Christmas Parade Hot Chocolate Outpouring

During the Gardendale Christmas Parade, we set up four Hot Chocolate Booths flowing with the best hot chocolate and warmth of Jesus Christ! Volunteers help serve parade attendees and invite them to GFBC’s Christmas program. Thousands of folks line our streets each year to see the parade, many of who don’t know Christ. What a great opportunity to show them the real meaning of Christmas!

Fall Festival

This is a great alternative to Halloween. Thousands of families come to GFBC to enjoy rides and games in a safe, secure environment. Volunteers help by assisting with games. Each family brings a bag of individually wrapped candy per child for admission, in exchange for a night full of FREE games, rides and an experience that is not soon forgotten. Each family is given information about GFBC, as well as, the plan of salvation!

Magnolia Festival

Late April or early May is time for us to “Spring” into action and get out into the community at the Magnolia Festival. This festival creates funding for scholarships for local seniors. GFBC provides volunteers to help make the festival a success, provide assistance at various booths, as well as, provide transportation from the parking lots. GFBC has booths with free games for the families attending. Each family receives a Bible or a Bible Tract that offers the plan of salvation.

Christian Farmers Outreach

During the Magnolia Festival, this outreach tool helps us to share the gospel of Jesus in a clear and effective way! As folks come into our booth to receive a free bracelet or walking stick, our volunteer teams share the gospel story through the colored beads that are represented on the bracelet or walking stick. Literally, thousands of souls all over the world are claimed for Christ every year through this ministry. Check out Christian Farmers at www.christianfarmers.com. The fields are ripe unto harvest!

operation christmas child

A small shoebox can teach a child about the love of God, lead him or her to faith in Christ, inspire pastors and plant new churches. What goes into the box is fun, but what comes out is eternal. Be a part of changing lives through the power of a simple gift during the months of October and November.

“We can reach our communities for Christ, one person at a time. Who are we reaching today?”
