The first step to becoming a foster parent is to attend orientation meeting prior to participating in the 7-10 week (differs by state) foster parent training course. Here you will learn more about Lifeline’s foster care program and the various requirements for license, including state mandated training, the home study process, and Minimum Standards for Foster Homes. Please register for the appropriate orientation meeting. Orientation Meeting will be April 10 at 6:00 p.m.
Alabama’s licensing classes are called Group Preparation and Selection (GPS). These classes includes an orientation followed by 10 weeks of class. If you are interested in becoming a licensed foster parent, or a respite provider, please plan to attend an Orientation Meeting. Your presence at this meeting is required prior to beginning the GPS course and is a great way to decide if becoming a foster family is right for you!
